City of Johannesburg – ‘Information sharing sessions’ with migrant communities on City by-laws

ADF has participated in / helped organize the following meetings:

  • 24 January 2009 – Yeoville Recreation Center
  • 31 January 2009- Southern Suburbs Recreation Center (Rosettenville)
  • 26 February 2009 – Cleveland Police Station
  • 27 May 2009 – on 2010 by-laws, CJ Cronje Building (inner City, region F offices)

Region F Foreign Nationals Information Sharing Session: 31 January 2009

Region F intends to hold a information sharing sessions aiming to address issues of Inner City Regeneration with stakeholders residing and working within its jurisdiction. African migrants generally reluctant to attend public meetings (fear, low expectations, experience of repression – more than language issues). They appreciate the extra effort made by the City to involve them in discussions about urban matters They hope this meeting is the start of a longer term relationships with the City of Johannesburg. Click here to view presentation
